In MLB The Show 26, the Spooky Program offers a useful way to reach Sammy Sosa without finishing every reward path, but the value of a Diamond Quest run depends on your current points. Before committing time or considering MLB 26 stubs for other roster needs, check whether the quest collection will move you to a meaningful milestone. The eligible reward cards are No Sell, so this decision is primarily about progression and lineup value rather than resale.

Check the distance to Sosa first

Sosa becomes available at 60 program points, and the October 28 Spooky Diamond Quest collection awards 20 points for registering either eligible Bo Bichette or Kerry Wood card. You only need one of them for that collection objective, so a second card is not required to claim its points.

At 40 points, the collection can take you directly to Sosa. At 20 points, it brings you to 40, leaving another 20 to earn elsewhere; at zero, it covers only the first 20 points. That difference matters because the same quest can be a finishing move for one roster and only part of a longer route for another.

If you are still far from 60, look at the remaining program objectives before committing to the quest. The collection may still be worthwhile, particularly if its card fills a roster need, but its point award alone will not finish the journey.

Choose the reward your roster can use

Bichette and Wood satisfy the same collection requirement, so compare them by the job each can perform after the points are claimed. Neither requires you to obtain both cards for the objective, making roster fit the deciding factor rather than collection efficiency.

Decision factor Bo Bichette Kerry Wood
Primary role Third baseman Starting pitcher
Additional utility Shortstop eligibility Five pitch mix
Best roster need Contact hitting Rotation depth

Bichette fits an infield that needs contact, with strong contact ratings against both sides and useful vision and clutch attributes. His shortstop eligibility also gives you another way to use him if third base is already covered.

Wood instead addresses a rotation need with strong strikeout ratings, solid stamina, and high pitching clutch. His fastball, slurve, curve, changeup, and cutter provide varied options, although their usefulness still depends on your pitch placement.

Keep the card only while it fills a need

The 20 program points are the immediate reason to pursue the collection, but the selected player can continue helping after Sosa is claimed. Bichette offers lineup flexibility, while Wood can remain an option when you need another starter.

That value is conditional rather than permanent. If a later addition fills the same position more effectively for your roster, move on from the quest card without treating its earlier use as wasted time. Since both rewards are No Sell, another run should be judged by the players or other rewards you need, not by an expected market return.

Separate program progress from XP

Spooky Mini Seasons is another progression route, with featured 99 OVR rewards including Brian Roberts, Carlos Santana, Clay Buchholz, and Gary Sheffield. It may suit players who want those rewards, but it should not be assumed to replace the Diamond Quest collection on a point for point basis.

Buchholz is tied to a separate collection objective worth 20 XP, not 20 program points. Check the reward listed for each objective before choosing your next activity, especially if Sosa is your immediate target.

Check the Spooky Program screen before starting a quest to identify the points you still need.
After earning Bichette or Wood, open the Diamond Quest collection task and register the exact eligible card.
Confirm that your program total has increased before attempting to claim the next reward.
Review other available objectives if the collection leaves you short of 60 points.

Earning a card and registering it are separate actions, so leaving the quest with the reward in your inventory does not by itself complete the collection. Once the objective is done, another attempt is optional unless a remaining reward helps your roster.

Make your next move based on the gap shown in the program and the position your team needs most. If you are also weighing MLB 26 stubs for sale for a different roster upgrade, keep that decision separate from the No Sell quest reward and verify your collection progress first.
